San Diego TV and the Puggle

A San Diego NBC affiliate ran a puggle story.

They approached it from the angle of mixing breeds and whether that's desirable or not.

They also say that puggles are going for an average of $800.

Puggle. Pricy pooch.

Excerpt: "I absolutely love the idea of mixing breeds," Rosenthal said. "I think that we can really look for the best characteristics in each breed and start (to) eliminate some of the medical problems that have been plaguing us for a very long time."

Puggle Notorious Down Under

The Sydney Morning Herald mentioned puggles today. It's a recap of the standard "this is a puggle and it's really popular" kind of story that is now popping up everywhere.

Excerpt:

"As well as being handbag-friendly, the puggle has been designed for maximum cuteness, combining a pug's short snout and a beagle's big brown eyes and droopy ears. And its fur is allergy-free."

Thinking of Bringing Home a New Puggle?

Puggles are irresistable dogs, no doubt about it. But, if you are thinking about getting a puggle, you need to make sure you are ready to have a new member of the family around.

I found this advice and thought it was worth passing along:

BRINGING HOME A NEW PUPPY

With careful planning, bringing home a puppy to share with your family can be a wonderful experience. However, a new puppy is a lot of hard work.

Before you ever bring your new puppy home, you must prepare your home for the new member of the family. To ?puppy proof? your home, it is a good idea to get down on the floor where the puppy will be and look around from his eye level. Electrical cords, houseplants, ?lost? items under furniture, and stairs are some of the things that could seriously hurt a puppy.

As soon as you bring your puppy home, it?s important to call your vet and make an appointment to have the puppy examined. Your vet will want to start vaccinations and de-worming at this time, and will help you schedule the series of shots your dog will need at this young age. If you are concerned about flea prevention, your vet can help you choose a product that is safe to use on puppies.

Your puppy will need a puppy food that is 100% balanced nutrition for puppies. This will be found right on the label. With a high quality puppy food, tailored for a growing puppy?s nutritional needs, it won?t be necessary to add any vitamins to his diet. At all times, clean water should be available for the puppy to drink.

A real challenge for any new puppy owner is house training. The best way to begin this process is to confine your puppy to a very small area of the house at first, or perhaps purchase a crate. Half of this area should be covered with newspaper, while the other half should be created as his sleeping area. Puppies don?t want to sleep in a wet or soiled bed, so they will go to the newspaper. When you see this behavior, praise him and offer him a treat. As the puppy begins to understand the process, you can gradually give him more space and begin to work on out-of-doors training.

A puppy is a baby! He needs proper rest and playtime stay happy and healthy. Providing your puppy with a soft, comfortable bed and several puppy-friendly toys will help with this. Get down on the floor with your puppy at playtime.

Puppies are a joy to have in the home and as we all know, they?re so cute. With just a little effort, your puppy will be a problem-free member of the family in no time at all.

Puggles' Cuteness Makes it the Top Dog Breed

leveltendesign.com's buzz report notes that more internet users are searching for information about the puggle breed than all other dog breeds combined.

Excerpt: "Dog breeds have always been a popular Internet search. A new breed, the Puggle, has recently become the breakout top dog. A ‘Puggle’ is the newest fad of designer dog breeds sweeping the nation. How popular are Puggles? The term Puggle is searched more than all other dog breeds combined."

Awesome Description of Puggles

I found this site, puppyparadise.com, that has an awesome description of puggles and tons of good puggle info. You might want to check it out.

Excerpt: "Puggles are a relatively new hybrid dog breed produced by mating a select female Beagle to a select male Pug- resulting in a very sweet-tempered, affectionate (but not yippy, hyper, or insecure) pup that is very low-maintenance family-friendly (great with children and other dogs), loose-skinned, wrinkly-faced, endearing in both personality and looks. Well into their adult lives, they exemplify the best of what dogs are all about- loyalty, companionship, and affection; translating into a breed that is very eager to please its owner. It has been proven over time that Puggle owners feel their Puggles change their own family chemistry for the better giving everyone a "lift" by their happy, can-do natures. As well, they are durable, hardy dogs that can easily take a bit of rough-housing (boys love them for this.) Girls appreciate their affectionate, lap-loving qualities. Puggles usually get to be 14-20lbs. as adults, are 13-15" high at the shoulder, typically have a curly tail, are tan with a black muzzle or black- earning them the nickname of "miniature mastiffs."

If you love puggle puppies, you gotta go here.

Puggles are the Hot Breed, according to Fox News

I found this neat article on the Fox news web site about puggles. The article reminds us of what we all already know, puggles are in high demand right now. Prized for their cuteness, would be dog owners are clamoring for puggles.

Excerpt: "Everyone is clawing for them, it's ridiculous," said Brian Incovaia of Metro Puppy Kennels in Forest Hills, Queens. "I get people calling left and right for them, and basically you get the equivalent of breeding a Marc Jacobs bag with a Louis Vuitton."

I don't know much about handbags, but I think that means puggle are THE in thing right now.
